Slot Machine are Fiona Creese, Nicola Blackwell and Nick Tigg, and we’ve been making work, together and separately, for over 20 years. We try to make work that is funny, quirky and highly visual without being impossibly obscure. We make work for theatres and other spaces.
All of us have a background in devising work for the theatre, and we’ve all worked for a number of years with experimental theatre company The People Show, creating works including the award-winning BABY JANE, (Fringe First Award winner, Edinburgh 2003), THE BIRTHDAY SHOW, THE BOAT SHOW, and, most recently, THE DETECTIVE SHOW.
Fiona Creese is a performer, writer and choreographer. She has worked regularly with the RSC and The Globe and has created numerous shows for the Kosh dance company. She has also created many shows for the People Show, is a core member of the company and part of their steering group.
Nicola Blackwell is an actor, writer and director and has worked at the National Theatre (as Margaret Thatcher in MARKET BOY), Sheffield Crucible, and many other theatres in the UK. She was a founder member of experimental theatre company Wink and inaugurated the ‘Shorts’ programme of work at the Young Vic theatre.
Nick Tigg is a performer, deviser and musician and has worked at the National Theatre, the RSC and many other theatres in the UK. He is a core member of the People Show, and has written and recorded music for numerous theatre pieces.
Our recent work includes an adaptation of the children’s book ONE SNOWY NIGHT, which toured the UK Christmas 2011, THE SLIDE SHOW, our popular touring extravaganza, and THE SCOOTER BALLET, a multi-generational outdoor dance piece for street scooters, wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
Norden Farm Centre for the Arts (www.nordenfarm.org) is multi-arts venue in Maidenhead, about 20 miles west of London. The award-winning development was built on the site of an old Dairy Farm and includes two theatres, an art gallery and 18th century long barns. MIKI is the second original children’s show, produced by Artistic Director, Jane Corry and the Norden Farm team, created by Slot Machine.
